Requirements & Safety

Dog boarding · Requirements

Requirements & safety

Your dog’s health, safety and comfort are a priority while staying at Grahams Creek Pet Care. Before your dog’s stay, we’ll ask you for some important information so we can understand their routine, health, behaviour and individual needs.

Vaccinations

All dogs must have current vaccinations appropriate for boarding and socialising with other dogs.

Please provide a copy of your dog’s current vaccination certificate before their stay. If you’re unsure if your dog’s vaccinations are up to date, check with your vet before booking.

Fleas, Ticks & Worming

Dogs must be up to date with appropriate flea, tick and worming treatments before arriving.

If we notice fleas, ticks or other signs of parasites during your dog’s stay, we’ll contact you and discuss the appropriate treatment.

Veterinary Support

Erin is a qualified veterinary nurse and can provide experienced support with your dog’s routine health needs during their stay. Please note that Erin’s role does not replace veterinary care. If your dog becomes unwell or injured, we’ll follow the emergency veterinary care process outlined below.

Qualified Dog Training Support

Erin is also a qualified dog trainer. She can provide personalised guidance and support with your dog’s behaviour, confidence and day-to-day training needs while they’re staying with us. Erin will take the time to get to know your dog and use positive, individualised approaches suited to their personality and comfort level.

Behaviour & Socialisation

We want every dog to have a safe and enjoyable stay.

Please tell us about any behavioural concerns before booking, including:

  • Aggression towards dogs, people or other animals
  • Resource or food guarding
  • Reactivity
  • Separation anxiety
  • Fear or anxiety
  • Escape or digging behaviour
  • Excessive barking
  • Previous biting or aggressive incidents

Having a behavioural issue doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t care for your dog. It helps us decide if our farm environment is suitable and how your dog should be managed.

Dogs are introduced and grouped based on their behaviour, size, play style and individual needs. We may separate dogs or change activities if we believe it’s safer to do so.

Medication & Medical Conditions

Please tell us about any medical condition, injury, allergy or medication your dog has.

Medication must be provided in its original packaging with clear instructions, including:

  • Dog’s name
  • Medication name
  • Dose
  • When it needs to be given
  • Any special instructions

If your dog has a medical condition that requires additional care, please discuss it with us before booking so we can confirm that we can safely meet their needs.

What to Bring

We provide bedding, bowls and our standard food as part of your dog’s stay.

Please bring:

  • Any required medication
  • Your dog’s lead and collar or harness
  • Any special or prescription food if required
  • Anything specifically requested when your booking is confirmed

You’re welcome to bring something familiar from home if it helps your dog settle, but please don’t bring anything valuable or irreplaceable.

Emergency Veterinary Care

If your dog becomes sick or injured during their stay, we’ll make reasonable attempts to contact you or your nominated emergency contact.

If veterinary attention is required and we cannot reach you, we may arrange veterinary assessment or treatment in accordance with the authority provided in your boarding agreement.

For an emergency requiring immediate treatment, we won’t delay necessary veterinary care while waiting for a response.

Veterinary costs associated with your dog’s illness, injury or existing medical condition remain the owner’s responsibility, subject to the terms of your boarding agreement.

Emergency Contact

Every booking must include an emergency contact who:

  • Can be contacted while you’re away
  • Knows your dog
  • Is authorised to make decisions if we cannot reach you

Please make sure their details remain current for the duration of your dog’s stay.

Your Dog’s Individual Needs

No two dogs are the same.

Before their first stay, we’ll collect information about your dog’s feeding, routine, behaviour, health and preferences. This helps us plan their stay and choose suitable activities, playmates and supervision.

If there’s something you think we should know, please tell us. Even small details can help us make your dog’s stay more comfortable.
